Macland’s Progress: Search Begins for a Youth and Family Minister

These are exciting times at Macland Road for many reasons. We have a growing, diverse membership, a large youth group with dedicated parents, and a wide range of opportunities to do evangelism, edification, and benevolence. One more reason why Macland’s future is bright is the following news:

The elders are glad to announce that we are beginning a search for a full-time Youth and Family Minister. The purpose of this new minister is to lead, encourage, support, and nurture the involvement of our family and youth in the Lord’s work and in fellowship with one another. To that end, the Youth and Family minister will serve under our eldership and collaborate with our deacons, preacher, teachers, staff, parents, and members.

Every member of the church is important (Galatians 6:1), has the potential for great service to God (Acts 11:29), and is under the spiritual care of the eldership (Hebrews 13:17). Our new Youth and Family member will have the potential to facilitate the involvement of each member of the church. In short, he will help each of us to grow, if we will let him. Consider the significance of growth in the following text:

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:5-8).

Our new minister will be especially attentive to the children and their parents, providing spiritual support. The elders envision this minister working with our ministry leaders to coordinate Lads to Leaders and VBS, leading in the visitation program, and teaching in the Bible education program.

You may be involved in the search for this minister in two ways: First, do you know someone who would be a good fit for the job? If so, please tell him to get in touch with the elders for more details about the position. In the search process, we are in the early stage of collecting applications, so your input is most welcome.

Second, please pray for the fruitfulness of our search, that we will find the right man for the job, and that our elders will be wise in their selection. May God bless us in this endeavor!
