Those who believe in the Darwinian theory of evolution believe that mankind is the result of a long chain of random, accidental, natural, mechanistic processes which led from an amoeba eventually to primates and then to human beings.
One of the many insurmountable difficulties for the evolutionary hypothesis is that evolution opposes the scientific Law of Biogenesis. The Law of Biogenesis states that all life reproduces after its own kind. For example, cats produce kittens, cows produce calves, and dogs produce puppies. There is no known exception to this rule, which God enacted at the very beginning of the world (see Genesis 1:21, 24-25). If Darwinian evolution is true, then the Law of Biogenesis has been broken many times.
Our brother, the great philosopher Thomas B. Warren used the Law of Biogenesis in his debate with Antony G. N. Flew concerning the existence of God. Brother Warren asked Dr. Flew, “Which was on earth first—a woman or a baby?” (Warren and Flew, The Warren-Flew Debate on the Existence of God [Moore: National Christian Press, 1977], 21). An evolutionist does not have a good answer to this question. If he says that a woman appeared on Earth before the first baby, then he would have to explain how a non-human creature transformed into a woman. Such would be scientifically unprecedented and inexplicable! If the evolutionist says that a human baby appeared on Earth before the first woman, then he would have to explain how a non-human creature gave birth to a human baby. Again, such would be scientifically unprecedented and inexplicable!
So, as we might expect, Dr. Flew would not answer Brother Warren’s question. Warren therefore said, “So, according to Flew, it is simply not the case that either a woman or baby was here before the other. If so, then somehow or other they must have gotten here at exactly the same time. Dr. Flew, I am certainly going to be listening for you to explain how that happened” (20). Again, Dr. Flew dodged the issue.
Evolution does not have a good answer to the question about where the first human being came from, but the Bible does:
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them” (Genesis 1:26-28).
May we ever remain convicted by the overwhelming evidence that the Genesis account of creation is historically true.
