Macland’s Progress: Important Opportunities Ahead!

Important Opportunities Ahead.001

These are exciting times in the Macland Road family. In the coming months, we have a number of opportunities for evangelism, Bible study, and recharging our spiritual batteries. The Bible teaches that we should plan ahead (e.g., Proverbs 21:5; 22:3; 24:27; Matthew 24:44; 2 Corinthians 9:6; Hebrews 11:7; 1 Peter 3:15). As we enter the summer months, we should mark our calendars for these events and make good preparation to take full advantage of these opportunities.

VBS. Vacation Bible School is right around the corner (June 7-11), and it’s going to be great. There will be classes for newborns through high-school age. The theme is “Journeys.” Each night, students will enjoy a fun excursion to a different biblical locale to learn about a Bible character. Crafts will reinforce the Bible lessons. Pre-registration is available on-line at www.MaclandRoadChurchofChrist.org, and, starting tonight, in the foyer. (Pre-registration allows our planners to get enough supplies.) Also, if you would like to volunteer to be VBS travel guide (i.e., to help children get from one activity to the next) or to help with VBS in other ways, see James or Tiffany Bryant or sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board.

Summer Series. We have a great line-up of speakers for our 2015 Summer Series, which will cover the Minor Prophets. Each week, a well-prepared speaker will provide a helpful overview of one of the Minor Prophets. The series runs every Wednesday night in June, July, and August. Speakers include visiting speakers Matt Amos, Mike Gifford, Lee Davis, Eric Owens, Neil Richey, Kevin Derrick, and David Decker, as well as Macland regulars James Bryant, Jim Herring, Jeff Hope, and Josh Conley. You will not want to miss a single session. Grab a flyer for this event from the table in the foyer and invite your friends.

Gospel Meeting. Our Gospel Meeting with Dr. Tom Holland is October 25-28. Brother Holland is one of my very favorite preachers. He is a teacher of preachers, and for many years has preached in meetings and seminars all over the country. His preaching can prick the hearts of our lost friends and build up the church. If you would like to hear Brother Holland preach now, as a way of both learning the Bible and getting ready for our meeting, then go to www.bit.ly/1KJk7bS. At this site, you will find over 100 audio recordings of Brother Holland’s presentations. Also, here are videos from a recent gospel meeting conducted by Brother Holland: http://bit.ly/1GMfl9u.
